Introducing blended learning at MTS

Blended learning is simply using a combination of approaches and/or delivery methods to support learning. The most common combination is live tutor led learning combined with self paced e-Learning. The main advantage of blended learning is that the learner experiences a process of learning about a particular topic rather than a single event and therefore is much more likely to be able to transfer the learning back into the workplace.

In August 2008, Mourne Training Services will introduce a virtual learning environment to support all training courses. This new service consists of a 'virtual classroom' containing the materials and e-learning modules associated with courses provided by MTS. A username and password will be provided to enable learners to access the course in which they are enrolled. This service will be combined with live web based training or traditional classroom based face-to-face training to provide a blended learning experience.
